For the past few years, the CDC, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (Center) has been working to coordinate the categorical, disease-specific programs, such as heart disease and stroke, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, and nutrition, physical activity and obesity.  To help coordinate these programs, the Center developed a four domain framework.  ASTPHND expects that the four domain framework will continue to shape the future of work funded by CDC's Combined Chronic Disease Prevention Grant Program (CCDPGP).  This change will likely affect the CDC nutrition, physical activity, and obesity state programs.

ASTPHND's Obesity Prevention Nutrition Steering Committee has prepared a summary of the four domain framework using examples relevant to public health nutrition.  Click on the PDFs above to view ASTPHND's document and to review the original CDC Examples of Strategies with Domains and Four Domains from November 2012.

CDC's webpage, State Public Health Actions to Prevent and Control Diabetes, Heart Disease, Obesity and Associated Risk Factors and Promote School Health includes a brief programmatic background and award amounts for both the basic and enhanced components.
