ASPHN invites you to this year’s Annual Meeting, 2020 Vision & Leadership in Public Health Nutrition. This educational, interactive and fun virtual meeting is scheduled June 15-18, and we’ll be using Adobe Connect to bring us together.

Sessions will begin daily at 11:00 AM EST and wrap up at 4:30 PM EST.  We’ll take half hour breaks between events, giving us an opportunity to get in a quick walk, grab a snack or check-in with the office. We’ll also be working through lunch, so please be sure to bring yours.

REGISTRATION IS EASY! There’s no fee to register and we encourage all nutrition professionals to register today and invite your colleagues to join us as well. Please note that you’ll receive a certificate of attendance for continuing education credits for attending the Annual Meeting’s live presentations. The deadline for registration is May 22, 2020 at 5 PM ET.

If you’ve already registered, you’ll be receiving an email containing a technology checklist to ensure your set-up is ready for the event. You’ll also be asked to complete a brief second form that will allow us to customize your virtual attendance, email you personal log-in credentials, and make you eligible for drawings and prizes. Be sure to update or locate your head shot, as we’ll be using it to enhance our networking sessions!

In the meantime, contact Cyndi Atterbury if you have any questions.

A Unique Growth Opportunity

2020 has ushered in a new decade and unprecedented challenges in public health nutrition. Now, more than ever, we need vision and leadership to ensure that vital nutritional assistance is available to the growing number of those in need. To help us navigate these challenges, we’ve organized a state sharing event on the response to the COVID-19 epidemic.

We’ll be opening the meeting with an interactive leadership workshop led by Sarah Davis from the Colorado School of Public Health, and will also host sessions with Harvard’s Department of Nutrition Chair, Walter Willett, MD, Dr PH, as well as an update on FDA’s new food labels from Maya E. Maroto, EdD, MPH, RD.

Timely updates from CDC-DNPAO, MCHB, and USDA will take place throughout the meeting, and a World Café event will give us an opportunity to break out into smaller groups in order to explore nutritional areas of interest. Our beloved poster sessions, special breakfast meetings and happy hour events will round out the Annual Meeting.

Our virtual meeting will include a variety of interactive components to connect you with fellow attendees, share photographs, and post your thoughts on the topics at hand. Fun ice breakers and social events will help us get to know one another in a relaxed environment.

We encourage all ASPHN members to attend the Annual Meeting. From students, to emerging leaders, to seasoned professionals, everyone benefits from the positive and supportive atmosphere.

Our meeting is also open to non-members. If you’re a nutrition professional, be sure to take advantage of this opportunity. Whether you work at the local, tribal or state level … in state WIC … or in the community or non-profit arena, ASPHN’s Annual Meeting is an event you won’t want to miss.

An outstanding meeting is in the works! The draft agenda is now available.

Due to our change to a virtual meeting, the Holiday Inn, Denver-Cherry Creek will be our destination for next year’s meeting.

ASPHN invites all participants to submit poster presentations for the meeting that highlight community and public health nutrition activities, programs, and research. Submit your poster presentation hereThe deadline has been extended to May 15.
