Childhood obesity continues to escalate, with the prevalence over the last three decades more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents. The repercussions of childhood obesity can lead to a host of medical conditions that contribute to increased morbidity and premature death. Causes of obesity much like the etiology of caries are complex and multifaceted. Collaborative programming during childhood and adolescence amongst healthcare providers in the various sectors is vastly needed to more effectively address these issues.
